Facelifts in Princeton and Monroe, NJ
When the signs of aging are written all over your face, a facelift can erase the sagging skin and wrinkles that have aged your appearance. Board-certified New Jersey otolaryngologist Dr. Scott Kay performs facelifts for patients, including those throughout Princeton, Monroe and Plainsboro, in the Central New Jersey area at Princeton Otolaryngology Associates.
What Are Facelifts?
A facelift is performed to remove excessive facial skin as well as tighten the skin. This procedure can give you a younger appearance by removing saggy skin and wrinkles. Facial fat and tissue may also be moved to give you natural-looking results.
Benefits of Facelifts
A facelift gives you a younger appearance, tightening the skin of the face. Some of the benefits of a facelift include:
- Erase fine lines and wrinkles
- Eliminate sagging skin
- Smooth the skin
How are Facelifts Performed?
A facelift can be performed under general or local anesthesia. An incision is made at the temple hairline, which extends around the ear, ending in the lower scalp. The skin of the face will be pulled outward, allowing Dr. Kay to tighten it and reposition it for effective results. Excess fat or skin may be trimmed if necessary. Drains may be placed to prevent fluids from collecting under the skin. Once finished, the incision will be sutured.
Preparing For a Facelift
To prepare for facelift surgery, you may need to quit taking certain prescription and over-the-counter medications, as they can increase bleeding during the procedure; we will review your current medication list and advise you of the changes you will need to make. If undergoing general anesthesia, you will not be permitted to eat or drink for a certain period of time before surgery.
Facelift Recovery
Bruising and swelling can be expected after a facelift. A bandage and ice pack application can minimize these side effects. You’ll receive instructions on how to care for any surgical drains that have been placed. You should allow yourself at least two days to rest after the procedure before resuming your regular daily activities, which can help you heal faster.
How Much Do Facelifts Cost?
Facelifts are a cosmetic procedure which are not typically covered under insurance. Most patients must pay out of pocket for facelift surgery. To help you cover the cost of the procedure, we accept CareCredit® financing. For information about the financial options available to you, please contact us.
